Super Sacred Valley Tour
Everything in the valley in one outing: Chinchero, the Moray terraces, the Maras salt pans, Ollantaytambo and Pisac.
Rings of terraces sunk into the plateau — the Inca site most travelers remember from the photos.
Moray is a set of circular Inca terraces on the plateau at 3,500 m. The Incas used the difference in temperature between the levels to try out crops, which is why it is often called an agricultural laboratory. You visit it on the Super Sacred Valley tour, arriving at 9:30 AM for 45 minutes.
It is not on the Traditional route. The private tour can follow the Super Sacred Valley route too.
Concentric rings stepping down into a natural hollow, like an amphitheater of farmland.
Each level sits at a slightly different temperature — the Incas used that to test crops.
The best way to read the shape of the terraces is from the edge, before walking the paths.
Moray sits in open farmland between Chinchero and Maras, far from the valley floor.
Reference times from our regular departures.
45 minutes in the middle of the morning, between Chinchero and the Maras salt mines: enough to see the terraces from the rim and walk the paths with your guide.
See the Super Sacred Valley · from US$32 →The Traditional does not stop at Moray. To see it, choose Super Sacred Valley (US$2 more) or the private tour on that route.
Compare the two routes →The partial Cusco Tourist Ticket covers Moray, together with Chinchero, Ollantaytambo and Pisac. Add it in the Add-ons step when you book, or pay it in soles on the day.
